vienna, vons and victory!
The last run of printed editions is now available at two West Lafayette locations.
Stop into Von's Book Shop, pick up a free zine, and don't forget to check out into their treasury used books.
If you require more early-morning stimulus than musty cloth-bounds can offer, head across the street to Vienna Espresso bar and order a latte with your free zine.
Supplies are limited, so you might venture to Chauncey earlier in the day.
Can't make it out tomorrow? the digital version is also available.

off-season
Although the heat and humidity are beguiling, summer is coming to a close. It's been a fun bout of outdooring, but it's time to get back inside, and namely back to the work.
(frankly) news will soon be flooding your backyards, so keep a watchful eye this week.

The Printer's Ball 2010
A print-nerd's dream, The Printer's Ball, Chicago, fell on my birthday this year. As a first-time attendee I felt like it was Christmas. Clothing the walls and floors were all kinds of FREE publications, zines, art prints, and buttons. The Show N' Tell show afforded some sweet insight from published design superstars.
After b-lining to the free drinks, catching some of chicago's finest djs and listening to the success stories, I loaded my arms with reference and made it home in time to lay down some outlines for a new year with frankly!
There are ideas a-floating as frankly begins pre-production! So stay tuned!

start submitting for the next edition!
In the last edition of (frankly) we included a few writing prompts to get the ball rolling for all you creative minds out there.
post your submission in our blog or email them directly to us. comment on other submissions. the best submissions will appear in the next edition.
If walls could...
find a wall, or a wall segment and cover it (preferably one you own).
Use whatever materials you want. Transform it into a different
reality, a painting, or a layer of stories. Then, take a picture of
your finished art and post it on the (frankly) blog. The finished
product will be the photograph, so the space needs to be fairly well
lit.
found?
create and submit a faux found item. check out the foundmagazine.com
for ideas, the more comedic and outlandish, the better!
early influences...
recreate a piece of art from your parents house. work from memory and
reinterpret the art from your notably older and more profound (?) point of
view. feel free to include a description of the art you're
interpreting.

Making Headlines
There's a mock-up of the zine floating around the editors. We're hitting the printers tomorrow with all the ink we can get our hands on.
Watch the Journal and Courier for a possible article on (frankly). You can check out the newspaper online by clicking on the title.
We're looking for donations of money or printing quota to finish printing the zine. The zine is totally free to those who want it, so if you're feeling generous e-mail us at frankly.zine@gmail.com and let us know how you'd like to help.
